New Brunswick Theological Seminary housed the offices the Synod of the Mid-Atlantics for some time. While Reverend Pete Paulsen was their Executive Minister, the professor of New Testament, Reverend Doctor Beth Johnson, occupied an office across the hall. Chance meetings to and fro' led from one thing to another, and in good time the pair recognized a mutual attraction, eventually marrying each other in 1993. James and I were invited to the wedding, and as a gift, we composed a hymn for them. Twain Shall Meet was chosen as the name for their tune because despite the outward un-likelihood of this relationship coming about, contrary to the common saying, these two did meet. I'm glad to say they are living happily ever after, too. |
