The Classis of Orange in eastern New York state began a new ministry in its western sector with the closing of a congregation located at Callicoon Center in 1995. To solemnize the closing of the church and the start of a food pantry and "new to you" shop in its place, the Classis held a service at the Deer Park Reformed Church in Port Jervis. We marked the occasion also with a new hymn, "O God, whose voice remains the same". The name of the tune, Orange Blossom, is a play on the Classis' name: just as the flower is the beginning of any fruit, the Classis of Orange was starting something they hoped would bear fruit, too. |
