The Neversink, New York ecumenical gathering would hold an annual Thanksgiving service, for which this tune and its accompanying text were written around 1994. Keen listeners and linguistic morphologists will recognize the name of the tune as related to "Catskills". Kaaterskills is the original Dutch name for the New York portion of the Appalachian mountain range that bristles along the west side of the upper Hudson river. |
