In 1989, while I served at Christ Church, Summit, New Jersey, tragedy struck the family of one of my choristers. Bob Fisk, the father of one of my singers and a tenor in the Adult Choir, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in late November. While he could still appreciate the gesture, I penned this tune for our annual nativity meditation and named it in his honor. I wish I could say that the story had a happy ending, but by the end of January Bob had died. |
