In the year 2000 we moved our household from Walden, New York farther upstate to an even smaller town named Defreestville. This tune for the Christmas card that year takes its name from the hamlet, which in turn takes its name from the Defreest family, members of which have lived in this vicinity of Rensselaer county ever since the Dutch settled in New York in the 1600's.
