While James and I were co-pastors at the Grahamsville Reformed Church, we had some trouble finding competent people to play the organ for services. One summer, somewhat out of desperation, we hit upon the idea to open and close the Sunday service with the same tune so that whoever was playing would not have quite so much to practice; sometimes it was I who accompanied the song on guitar. Since we are people of the Book, and the piece stood at the beginning and the end of the service, I decided to call the tune Bookends. This arrangement, by Alfred V. Fedak, appears with James' text in Sing! A New Creation published by Faith Alive Resources. |
